How does interactive whiteboard work

Interactive whiteboards can be divided into pressure induction, electromagnetic induction, infrared, ultrasonic, CCD and other categories according to the principle. Each technology has different features and advantages and has a certain share in the market. 1 The positioning principle of the interactive whiteboard

(1) Pressure-sensitive technology: An electronic whiteboard using pressure-sensitive input method is equivalent to a touch screen of a computer. When the teacher touches the actual options on the screen with a finger or a pen, the computer will automatically process the corresponding operation. In fact, there are two layers of sensitive film inside this electronic whiteboard. When a certain point on the surface of the whiteboard is under pressure, the two layers of film form a short circuit at this point. The controller of the electronic whiteboard detects the coordinate value of the pressure point and sends it to the computer.

(2) Electromagnetic wave technology: The electromagnetic induction whiteboard uses a pen that can emit electromagnetic waves, and the receiving coil films are arranged in the horizontal and vertical directions of the whiteboard. When the pen is close to the receiving coil membrane, the coil chamber senses the electromagnetic waves emitted by the pen. The closer you are to the pen, the higher the motorized motion sensed by the coil membrane.

(3) Infrared technology: The horizontal and vertical scanning grids are formed by infrared receiving and transmitting tubes densely distributed around the display area to form a scanning plane network. When an object blocks a pair of horizontal and vertical scanning lines in the grid , the X and Y coordinates can be determined by the position of the blocked horizontal and vertical infrared rays.

(4) Ultrasonic technology: two ultrasonic receiving devices distributed at a fixed distance are placed on both sides of the screen. The pen used for positioning is an ultrasonic transmitter. When the pen moves on the surface of the screen, the emitted ultrasonic waves are transmitted along the surface of the screen. The receiver detects that the distance between the pen and the two receivers can be converted from the time when the ultrasonic wave is received.

Advantages and disadvantages of various interactive whiteboards

(1) Electromagnetic induction: basic principle: radio frequency (RF) principle, a sensor is installed in the core of the whiteboard, and the specific frequency signal sent by the electromagnetic pen is received to achieve positioning; advantages: accurate positioning, high precision, high reliability, long life, and response speed Faster, there is pressure in the writing process, and the whiteboard pen supports functions such as the right mouse button, which is easy to operate on the computer; Disadvantage: A special pen must be used.

(2) Infrared: Basic principle: Infrared principle, through the infrared tube around the whiteboard to detect objects that block infrared light to achieve positioning; advantages: accurate positioning, high precision, no need for a special pen, long service life, fast response speed; Disadvantages: no pressure-sensitive response, affected by strong light and dust, whiteboard pen does not support functions such as the right mouse button, and it is difficult to operate on the computer

(3) Resistive pressure sensing: basic principle: resistive film technology, which realizes pressure sensing positioning by detecting the resistance value; advantages: relatively accurate positioning, no need for a special pen; disadvantages: fear of scratches, unable to make large areas, difficult to operate on a computer
